Programme information

Gobelins, l’école de l’image is a school of visual communication operated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris. It offers both basic and professional training in the fields of photography, multimedia (web design, interactive projects), communication and industrial graphics, video, and animated films (hand-drawn, digital and 3D).

3 year animation artist programme.
1 year animation and film production management course: University degree (Master) in partnership with the University of Marne-la-Vallée

60 to 80 teachers (95% are professionals from the animation world)

80 Animation artists
20 Production management students

Number of foreign students 
Exchange programmes with Calarts (Los Angeles, CA, USA) and Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (Germany).
2 to 4 foreign students per year

Entry requirements
Three stage entrance exam for the animation artist course (written test for drawing, storyboard, narrative skills, artistic culture; portfolio review; interview)

Programme description 
The three year programme builds on the traditional curriculum, providing the students with the opportunity to work with both traditional (hand-drawn) and digital techniques for animation, while at the same time nurturing their creative skills. We seek to train young artists who will help shape the future of animation in France and around the world. As such, the programme takes into account a rapidly evolving industry. It is designed to enable students to work with new methods and technologies while still enhancing their classical animation skills, including those valuable skills for all animators - acting, timing and observation.

Philosophy

Allow the students to attain a professional level of skills in order to join the professional world of animation. At the end of the year there is a jury composed of professionals from the animation world. Very strong links with French, European and overseas studios.
