Programme information
The National Film School of Denmark is a state school, financially supported by the Danish Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The school was founded in 1966 by Theodor Christensen and is located on a beautiful site on the small island of Frederiksholm in the harbour of Copenhagen.
There are four study programmes available: film, TV, scriptwriting and animation directing. The number of students is 96: 60 film students, 6 scriptwriters, 18 TV students and 12 animation directors. All courses are 4 years, except that for scriptwriting, which lasts 3 years.
The school is an art school but practical knowledge is also very important. The teaching programme combines theoretical and practical training and includes a large number of exercises and productions. The students’ final project is a film produced to a professional level and broadcasted on national TV.

Programme description
The basic elements of animation direction:
Animation methodology, Elements of film narrative, Elements of interactive nar-rative, Production methodology, Technology, Computer games, Story board, Sound, Directing, Screenwriting, Editing, Drama.
Philosophy
The aim of the programme is to give the student the skills to develop his or her own story and graphical style while learning how to develop these stories for production in the film industry. The vision of the programme is to develop the abilities of each student to work with the production team in harmony with the directors overall artistic design. The programme regards the ability to work in a team and to immerse yourself in your project as two sides of the same coin and as two vital components.
