Programme information
The aim of the animation training is to provide animators and animation directors with a wide scale of expertise. After four years´ training period students know the whole production process of animated film in traditional puppet animation and drawing animation. They own firm knowledge of basic animation techniques and they are also able to use latest digital techniques and animation softwares.
The students are taught both animated forms of expression and film dramaturgy as well as a variety of different techniques. The means and instruments of traditional animation are available along with the latest digital technology and computer software. The practical film making is in the centre of studies; students produce one drawing animation film and one puppet animation before the final project.
During production periods they learn to use all skills needed starting from their own script and ending up till post production work. Along with exercise films the portfolio is filled up with different projects in the field of animation, visuals or other areas nearby. Many international activities are planned during the studies; participa-ting in festivals, work placement abroad or taking part in exchange programmes.
Graduates work in different fields in media as animation directors, animators, digital professionals, artists or illustrators.
To study animation needs real interest and great patience and also an ability to work independently. The visual skills and imagination are needed along with organization skills and punctuality.

Entry requirements
Students are taken in two stages: a first preliminary exam, and then an entrance exam (for those who have succeeded in the preliminary exam): this consists of written and drawing tasks and interviews. Visual skills, storytelling, motivation are also considered.
Programme description
The curriculum is divided in Basic Studies and Professional Studies with Specialisation in Animation.
Basic Studies include Language studies, Philosophy and History of Art, Working Life and Entrepreneur, Methodology and Development Studies, Media Culture, Visual Storytelling, Cinematography, Editing and Sound, Digital Work Environment and Production.
Professional Studies include History of Moving Image, Storytelling, Digital Visual Tools, Animation Image and Sound, 2D Character Animation and Optional Studies. After the second year students can choose three of the modules which are: Short Fiction, 3D Animation, Puppet Animation, Post Production, Interactive Media and Film Project.
During their studies students make one drawing animation film and optional puppet animation if he/she chooses.
Internships in studios and in productions are part of the studies. Final Work includes artistic, practical work and written thesis.
